1. Definitions

  • Account — your personal SusuMate profile, created with your name and mobile number.
  • Group — a rotational susu, private pot or public campaign created on SusuMate.
  • Contribution — money you pay into a group.
  • Payout / Cashout — money disbursed from a group to a recipient's Mobile Money number or bank account.
  • Admin — a member who creates or manages a group and its rules.
  • Payment Partner — a licensed mobile money, bank or payment provider that processes contributions and payouts on our behalf.

2. Eligibility & your account

To use SusuMate you must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. You agree to provide accurate information and to complete any identity verification (KYC) we or our Payment Partners require. Each person may hold one account, and you are responsible for all activity that takes place under it.

3. How SusuMate works

SusuMate supports three ways to save and contribute:

  • Rotational Susu — every member pays a fixed share each round, and the full pot is paid to the next member in turn until everyone has received a payout.
  • Private Group Pot — members contribute fixed or flexible amounts toward a shared goal and approve cashouts using the group's voting rule.
  • Public Campaign — a group raises funds for a person, family or community cause, and supporters can contribute without joining the group.

SusuMate provides the technology to organise, record and move these funds. We do not control how a group decides to save or spend, beyond enforcing the rules the group sets and applicable law.

4. SusuMate is not a bank

SusuMate is not a bank, deposit-taking institution or investment scheme. We do not pay interest, charge interest, or invest, lend or trade with your group's money. Funds contributed to a group are held with our regulated Payment Partners for the sole purpose of enabling contributions and payouts within that group.

5. Contributions & payments

Contributions are made using Mobile Money, VISA or Mastercard through our Payment Partners. By contributing, you authorise SusuMate and the relevant Payment Partner to process the transaction. You are responsible for ensuring you have the funds and the authority to use the payment method you choose. SusuMate is not liable for losses caused by incorrect payment details you provide.

6. Group rules, voting & cashouts

When a group is created, its admin(s) set the rules, including contribution amounts, rotation order and the approval threshold required to cash out (for example, 50% or 100% of members must approve). Once payments have begun, certain rules may be locked to protect members.

Payouts are sent only after the group's rules are met — automatically for a completed rotational round, or once the required approvals are obtained for a group pot. Payouts are made to the recipient's own Mobile Money number or bank account. You may not direct a payout to an account that is not in the recipient's name.

7. Fees & charges

SusuMate keeps fees simple:

  • Saving into a group — a 1% Payment Processing Fee is added to the contribution amount.
  • Creating or joining a group — free.
  • Receiving a payout — a 1.5% Payout Processing Fee is deducted from the payout amount.

For example, a GH₵100 contribution has a GH₵1 processing fee, so GH₵101 is charged. A GH₵1,000 payout has a GH₵15 processing fee, so the recipient receives GH₵985. The applicable fee is always shown before money moves. We may update our fees from time to time, and material changes will be communicated in advance. Your Payment Partner or mobile network may apply its own charges.

8. Refunds & reversals

Because contributions immediately form part of a shared group pot, they are generally non-refundable once made. Where a transaction fails or is duplicated at the payment level, we will work with our Payment Partners to resolve or reverse it, typically within a few business days. You remain liable for any chargeback, reversal or disputed transaction attributable to you, and we may recover such amounts from your account.

9. Public campaigns

Anyone may contribute to a public campaign as a guest. Campaign organisers are responsible for the accuracy of their campaign story and for using the funds for the stated purpose. SusuMate does not guarantee that any campaign goal will be met or that funds will be used as described, and we are not a party to the relationship between organisers, beneficiaries and supporters.

10. Acceptable use

You agree not to use SusuMate to:

  • commit fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing or any other illegal activity;
  • impersonate another person or provide false information;
  • collect funds under false pretences or misuse a group's money;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the platform, or introduce malware; or
  • use the service in a way that harms other members or SusuMate.

11. Limits & declined transactions

In line with Bank of Ghana and anti-money-laundering requirements, we and our Payment Partners may set or change limits on contributions, payouts, balances and transaction frequency. We may also delay, decline or reverse any transaction we reasonably suspect to be fraudulent, unlawful or in breach of these terms.

12. Keeping your account safe

Keep your login details and device secure and never share your PIN or one-time passwords. Notify us immediately if you believe your account has been compromised. You are responsible for transactions authorised through your account unless and until you report a compromise to us.

13. Suspension & termination

We may suspend or close your account, or a group, if we reasonably believe there has been a breach of these terms, a legal or regulatory requirement, or a risk of fraud or harm. Where possible we will let you know. You may close your account at any time by contacting us, subject to settling any outstanding group obligations and our record-keeping requirements.

14. Data & privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal information. By using SusuMate you also accept the Privacy Policy.

15. Intellectual property

SusuMate owns all rights in the app, website, brand, logos and software. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the service for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, resell or reverse-engineer any part of it.

16. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

SusuMate is provided "as is". We work hard to keep the service secure and available but cannot guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, SusuMate is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for disputes between group members. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be excluded under Ghanaian law.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted, and we will give notice of material changes. Continuing to use SusuMate after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

18. Governing law & disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana, and the courts of Accra have jurisdiction. If you have a complaint, please contact us first — we aim to acknowledge complaints within 48 hours and respond within 72 hours.
